Applying for a place
We strongly recommend that you put your child's name on our waiting list as soon as possible. Places are offered to children using the following criteria:
Children whose sibling(s) are attending or have attended the Pre-School
Children living within Ashtead (KT21 postcode)
Date order of applications received
Applications from children living outside Ashtead, but whose sibling(s) are attending, or have previously attended, will be considered on an individual basis.
Parents/Carers wishing to apply for a place at Pre-School are welcome to visit the setting by prior appointment.
The Pre-School is unable to keep a spare space for emergency admissions. However every effort will be made to accommodate emergency admissions should the case arrive. A full copy of our Admissions Policy can be found here.
If you wish to put your child's name on our waiting list please click here for the appliation form. Unfortunately, due to demand completing an application form does not guarantee that your child will be offered a place. The Pre-School will be in touch with you 6-9 months before your child is due to start with us if we are able to offer them a place. Once offered a place, parents/carers will be required to pay at deposit of £150 to confirm the place. This deposit is made up of £133, which will be deducted from the first term's fees and £17 for your child's induction pack (book bag, change bag and sunhat). If you child is eligible for FEET funding, please contact the Pre-School.
Starting at Pre-School
Prior to your child’s start date, you will be invited to an induction visit where you and your child will be introduced to your child’s key person. During this time you will be shown around the setting and routines explained. You will have the opportunity to share and discuss any concerns you may have with your key person, any medical/allergies needs will be recorded.
To make the transition a positive experience we adopt a flexible approach, where your child does not need to attend for the whole session from their first day. Parents/carers can choose to drop of later or collect earlier throughout the first half term, this approach is part of the provision's Settling In Policy.
By working together in this partnership will ensure your child’s start is a positive and happy start to Pre-School.
Clothing worn at Pre-School needs to be comfortable and manageable. Old clothes and soft shoes are recommended. For health and safety reasons open-toed shoes are not acceptable as they prohibit a child’s accessibility to planned activities. Similarly during the winter months, parents/carers are asked to ensure that their child has shoes to change into (should they come to Pre-School in wellies / snow boots).
Pre-School sweatshirts, t-shirts and sun-hats are available and can be purchased from the Pre-School.
We use the outdoor environment daily and appropriate clothing is needed to accommodate weather conditions
Barnett Wood Pre-School is happy to accept children who are eligible for FEET funding (Free Early Education for Two year olds). For more information about FEET funding please click here
